What You Need To Know About Public Storage Restrictions |

As you know, public storage involves restrictions when it comes to certain items. If you check the things that people supposedly take to storage units for short term or long-term storage, you’ll be surprised. Some are downright dangerous, destructive or even crime related. These type of storage units have strict rules which include scrutinization of your goods and also ensure tight security by limiting access by you and other people. They have put these rules which have ensured storage discipline among many people. Plants People wonder why these storage units prohibit plant storage even for a week as they transition to moving. One thing is for sure, plants need sunlight and that isn't something they’ll get in a storage unit. They’ll die faster than they can in other locations like your office or your neighbor's yard. Active gardeners who might have multiple plants can store their tools on a storage unit. As for the plants, they have to go elsewhere. Pets Can you believe that some people consider storing their pets in storage units? Inhumane right? Well, some people do not see it and they will talk about how they’ll stock food for the pet to be okay or they’ll come in the next day or two. The answer is usually a blunt no because not only is it against animal rights, it is extremely inhuman. The animal or bird needs sunlight, food and a live environment around them in order to live well. There is no justification leaving a fish alone in a storage unit. Food Well you might say that you are travelling for one week and your pasta won’t rot but these storage facilities won’t buy it. There is always something with food and if it can cause foul smell in a storage facility, it won’t be allowed. Food is a no go in a storage unit and even liquor is prohibited. Anything with a possibility of perishing is not something that storage facilities allow. Crime related Onto the obvious part. When talking about crime related items, you might be thinking marijuana, cocaine or even heroin. However, that’s not a section you want to go yet. Items you do not legally own are also not allowed in the storage unit. The owners scrutinize the goods intensively and even if someone stores illegal things unnoticed, the owner won’t ponder sending in authorities in case of suspicion. No one would like their reputation dragged in mud because of one customer. Obvious crime related thing like drugs are not allowed as you would obviously expect. Hazardous items This could be pepper spray, explosives or anything flammable. Any toxic substance that will change the chemical component of air or anything they spill on is considered hazardous and hence won’t be allowed in the storage unit. You’ll need to keep your experimental substances elsewhere. Cash If you have a big stash that you can’t seem to place its use, don’t even think about it. This storage facility won't allow it. When it gets lost, who will compensate or another simple question would be why not use a bank? Public storage facilities have restrictions for on main reason. Security. Sometimes it might not make sense to you but if you put yourself in the owners shoes you’ll understand. They protect their reputation and most importantly, another customer’s safety.
